  5. 5Blood pressure- The driving force that moves blood through the circulatory system
    - The force that blood exerts on the walls of blood vessels by the contraction of the heart
  6. 6Mean blood pressureIt is the average pressure driving blood into the tissues throughout the cardiac cycle
  7. 7Why is Pmean not just the average of systolic and diastolic pressure?Because the mean arterial pressure drops more quickly during the first phase of the cardiac cycle
  8. 8Equation for Pmeandiastolic pressure + (1/3 pulse pressure)
  9. 9Equation for pulse pressuresystolic pressure - diastolic pressure
  10. 10Procedure to measure Blood Pressure1. Cuff to the left arm and lower margin 2-3 cm above antecubital space. Arm 0 - 45 º from trunk
