- 2List steps in removing a helmet- place patient on their side, supporting head and neck
- unfasten chin strap, grasp each strap at the root of helmet and pull in opposite directions to open up the neck (rim) of helmet
- while holding helmet in the pulled open position, gently tilt the helmet back to pass over the chin
- tilt the helmet forward to pass over the back of the head
- continue to tilt the helmet backwards and forwards until the helmet is off the patient's head
