What is a network? A computer network is two or more computers connected via a wired or wireless connection which allows you to share data.
What is a P2P / Peer to Peer? In a peer to peer network the computers are connected via the internet and all have equal rights ( there is no admin to restrict people from doing harm).
Client server A computer system in which a central server provides data to a number of networked workstations.
What is WAN? Wide area network: it is a network that has a reach over a large geographical area e.g the internet
What is a LAN? Local area network: it is a network that spans over a small geographical area - usually under 2km- e.g the school
Performance factors in a network Latency - the delay in which data is transferred Traffic - the amount of users using a network at once trying to access data Bandwidth - Amount of data distributed in a certain time
Topology s we need to know pt.1 •Breaks are found easily •Provides security •Instillation and configuration complicated
Topology s we need to know pt.2 •Very fast •If the hub or switch fails, the nodes go down
topology s •Very Simple •Only supports a certain number of nodes •The whole network breaks if there is a break
topologys •Data flows in one direction so if there is a break with one of the nodes some of the data cannot moved.
