1) What is the endocrine system? The endocrine system is a communication system that controls the internal environment of the body.
2) What is controlled by the endocrine system? Water & Glucose Levels in your blood, body temperature and the changes your body goes through during puberty and pregnancy are all controlled by the endocrine system.
3) What are hormones? Hormones are chemical substances that act as messengers in the body.
4) What are the endocrine glands? The endocrine glands are the pituarity gland, pancreas, adrenal, ovaries, testes and thyroid.
5) What is the endocrine system coordinated by? The endocrine system is coordinated by the pituitary gland.
6) Why is the pituarity gland referred to the master gland? Becuase it controls the activities of the other endocrine glands such as the thyroid gland.
7) What is homeostastis? The process of maintaining a constant internal environment is known as homeosatasis.
8) What is endothermic accompanied by or requiring the absorption of heat
9) What is the body temp controlled by? The nervous system and this is more immediate response.
10) What is the TSH? Thyroid-stimulating hormone.
11) What causes sweat glands to produce sweat? The message from the hypothalmus.
