Flashcards
The changing relationship between lmac + mac
Cards in this deck (10)
- 1In Mac's letter to LMac, he shows what he thinks about Lmac. He respects and trusts her. He is very honest with her as she influences him.'My dearest partner of greatness'
'greatness is promised thee' - 2Lmac is the dominant one in the relationship. She convinces Mac to carry out the murder by questioning his masculinity.'live a coward in thine own esteem'
- 3Mac tries to fight for himself by saying'I dare do all that may become a man'
- 4Lmac tries to show how she is more dominant in the relationship and will even lose her femininity if that's what it would take'dashed the brains out' of her own child
- 5Lmac takes control when Mac will not take the daggers back and does it herself. This shows how she is still committed to the plan and again is more dominant than Mac. She points this out and calls him'the eye of childhood'
- 6Once Mac becomes king he starts making his own plans without informing Lmac. Lmac is getting fearful as we see the opposition of language'Tis safer to be that which we destroy/ Than by destruction dwell in doubtful joy'.
She is talking about fear saying how it is better to be murdered than fearful. - 7We start seeing distancing in their rel. Both Lmac and mac are starting to have their own ideas lmac- fear mac- murdering banquo'Why do you keep alone'
- 8L.Mac echoes Mac in previous scenes revealing their role reversal. For once Lmac knows nothing about the plan and is not the one in command'whats to be done?'
- 9Mac is gaining control and telling Lmac what to do. This echoes Lmac .... where before she was taking control, now Mac is'So prithee go with me'
'Leave the rest to me' - 10Lmac checks in with Mac and tells him what to do'You do not give the cheer'
