Question Answer
What is this? This is a sound card.A device which can be slotted into a computer to allow the use of audio components for multimedia applications.Alternatively referred to as a sound board or an audio card, a sound card is an expansion card or integrated circuit that provides a computer with the ability to produce sounds that can be heard by the user either over speakers or headphones. Below is an image of the Creative Sound Blaster sound card and an example of what a sound card that connects to an expansion slot inside your computer may look like.
What is this? This graphics card.A graphics card is the component in your computer that handles generating the signals that are sent to the monitor or "graphics". It is responsible for generating all the text and pictures that are displayed on your screen. It is called a "card" because most PCs will have a physical card that is inserted in a PCI slot on the motherboard. Some motherboards have built-in graphics cards with is something of a misnomer since it is built in as part of the motherboard and no longer a separate "card".
What is this? A random-access memory device allows data items to be read and written in roughly the same amount of time regardless of the order in which data items are accessed.[1] In contrast, with other direct-access data storage media such as hard disks, CD-RWs, DVD-RWs and the older drum memory, the time required to read and write data items varies significantly depending on their physical locations on the recording medium, due to mechanical limitations such as media rotation speeds and arm movement delays.
What is this? Read-only memory (ROM) is a class of storage medium used in computers and other electronic devices. Data stored in ROM can only be modified slowly, with difficulty, or not at all, so it is mainly used to distribute firmware (software that is very closely tied to specific hardware, and unlikely to need frequent updates).
What is this? A central processing unit (CPU) is the hardware within a computer that carries out the instructions of a computer program by performing the basic arithmetical, logical, control, and input/output operations of the system.
