- 6What is the purpose of the computer case?The purpose of a computer case is to protect the computer from any harm or damage
- 7What is the purpose of the motherboard?The motherboard is a important part in the computer system. The purpose of the motherboard is to hold together components such as the CPU.
- 8What is the purpose of the Processor?The purpose of the Processor is like the brain, it runs programs. It also sends and receives messages to the device to keep the computer running
- 9What is the purpose of the RAM?The purpose of the RAM Random Access Memory (RAM) is where the computer stores the current task that is being carried out. This is like your short term memory when you are thinking about what you are about to say of have just eaten. The RAM is volatile.
- 10What is the purpose of ROM?The purpose of ROM it stores a program used to boot up the computer. This is called the bootstrap loader
- 11What is the purpose of the Hard Drive?The purpose of the Hard Drive is where all of your documents, pictures, programmes etc. are stored on the computer, similar to all of the long term memories in your brain. The hard drive is not volatile
- 12What is a repetitive strain injury (RSI) and what causes them?Repetitive stain injury (RSI) is usually damage to the fingers and wrists caused by
repeated movements over a long period of time. - 13What is eye strain and what is the cause?Eye stain is usually caused by staring at a computer screen for a
long time. Particularly in poor light, in glare or with a
flickering screen. - 14What is the cause of back injuries when using a computer?The cause of back injuries are sitting in a poor or awkward postion in the chair
- 15By law, what do employers have to provide for their employees? (in regards to working with computers)It is now the law that any business makes sure the following are in place
for it’s employees:
tiltable screens
anti-glare screen filters
adjustable chairs
foot supports
suitable lighting
workstations are not cramped
when working on a computer staff take frequent breaks
appropriate eye and eyesight tests by an optician - 16What is the purpose of Binary?Binary is a code thats uses 1 and 0.
1 means on and 0 means off - 17How many bits are in a Binary number?There are 16 bits in a binary number
- 18How to convert from Binary to Denary?Use the code and translate it into a number- that is binary to denary
- 19How to convert from Denary to Binary?Use the translation and turn it back to a code- that is Denary to Binary
