Description of the set? | . The floor is covered in sand . A piece of paper is positioned towards the front of the stage with a speeded up projected version of the day being shown on it. . A third sheet of paper is torn off to reveal the legs shown for the legs section. . The paper acts as a screen once again however water is trickled down it to cause it to tear in vertical strips. . When the paper strips have been ripped down, wooden benches are shown to be positioned around the outside of the stage at the back. . The set has a box frame and during certain points of the performance, slings are hung from the top as part of the choreography, |
Use/interaction with the set? | . The sand represents time as it is trickled through the fingers - represents an hour glass, this therefore representing the theme of time. . When water is poured down the strips of paper, this gives the effect of the faces being projected as ageing. . The dancers swing from the slings - represents the pendulum from a clock. . When the paper screen is ripped away to show the legs, this ensures that the audiences' focus is on the legs. |
Accompaniment in 'Legs'? | . A 6/8 rhythm is played on percussion with accents on both beats 4 and 5. . This provides a playful rhythm. . The music provides the rhythm. . The dancers perform in direct correlation with the music. |
Accompaniment in 'Time Flies'? | . Regular 4 beat. . An electric guitar plays the melody line which repeats. . An urgency is built with faster notes and harsher electronic sounds and this matches the high speed dynamics and high powered contact work. . Gestures from the overture are repeated however, they are rushed and performed as if they need to be complete by the end of the music. |
