- 2LANLocal area network - a network that interconnects computers within a limited area such as a home, school, office etc...
- 3Output deviceAn output device is either an exit or changes which exit a computer system e.g. printer, plotter.
- 4Input deviceAn input device is any hardware device that sends data to a computer, allowing you to interact with and control the computer. e.g. trackball mouse, keyboard.
- 5Storage deviceAlternatively referred to as storage, storage media, or storage medium, a storage device is any hardware capable of holding information.
- 6SSDSSD (Solid State Drive) hard drives are faster, more reliable and much more efficient than normal hard drives (HDD). Very reliable and durable SSD hard drives are able to withstand knocks and shocks which makes them ideal for using in laptops.
- 7FireWireFire Wire is a method of transferring information between digital devices, especially audio and video equipment. Also known as IEEE 1394, Fire Wire is fast.
- 8RFIDRFID stands for Radio-Frequency Identification. The acronym refers to small electronic devices that consist of a small chip and an antenna. The chip typically is capable of carrying 2,000 bytes of data or less.
- 9GPSThe Global Positioning System (GPS) is a space-based satellite navigation system that provides location and time information in all weather conditions, anywhere on or near the Earth where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites.
- 10USBShort for Universal Serial Bus, an external bus standard that supports data transfer rates of 12 Mbps. A single USB port can be used to connect up to 127 peripheral devices, such as mice, modems, and keyboards.
- 11IP AddressShort for Universal Serial Bus, an external bus standard that supports data transfer rates of 12 Mbps. A single USB port can be used to connect up to 127 peripheral devices, such as mice, modems, and keyboards. USB also supports Plug-and-Play installation and hot plugging.
- 12SD cardAn SD Card (Secure Digital Card) is an ultra small flash memory card designed to provide high-capacity memory in a small size. SD cards are used in many small portable devices such as digital video camcorders, digital cameras etc...
- 13Sercurity cardThe card security code is located on the back of MasterCard, Visa and Discover credit or debit cards and is typically a separate group of 3 digits to the right of the signature strip.
- 14VoIPVOIP is an acronym for Voice Over Internet Protocol, or in more common terms phone service over the Internet. If you have a reasonable quality Internet connection you can get phone service delivered through your Internet connection instead of from your local phone company.
- 15CDA compact disc.
- 16DVDA type of compact disc able to store large amounts of data, especially high-resolution audiovisual material.
- 17Cloud storageCloud storage is a service model in which data is maintained, managed and backed up remotely and made available to users over a network (typically the Internet).
- 18Open source softwareOpen-source software is computer software with its source code made available with a license in which the copyright holder provides the rights to study, change and distribute the software to anyone and for any purpose.
- 19Proprietary softwareProprietary software is software that is owned by an individual or a company (usually the one that developed it). There are almost always major restrictions on its use, and its source code is almost always kept secret.
- 20DMSA multiuser Diary Management System that will enable staff in organisations to set/update/view meetings and appointments. The system will operate via a central server, but clients will able to function offline. It will support Mac OSX/Windows/*nix
- 21FirewallA Software that protects (a network or system) from unauthorized access with a firewall.
- 22SSIDStands for "Service Set Identifier." An SSID is a unique ID that consists of 32 characters and is used for naming wireless networks. When multiple wireless networks overlap in a certain location, SSIDs make sure that data gets sent to the correct destination.
- 23WEPWEP - An application that is usable only with an active Internet connection and that uses HTTP as its primary communications protocol. Also called web application.
- 24WPAWi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) is a security standard for users of computers equipped with Wi-Fi wireless connection. It is an improvement on and is expected to replace the original Wi-Fi security standard, Wired Equivalent Privacy.
- 25WPA2Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) and Wi-Fi Protected Access II (WPA2) are two security protocols and security certification programs developed by the Wi-Fi Alliance to secure wireless computer networks.
- 26AESThe Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is a symmetric-key block cipher algorithm and U.S. government standard for secure and classified data encryption and decryption.
- 27Bluetoothsend (a photograph or other piece of data) from one electronic device to another via Bluetooth.
- 28BandwidthIn computing, bandwidth is the bit-rate of available or consumed information capacity expressed typically in metric multiples of bits per second. Variously, bandwidth may be characterized as network bandwidth, data bandwidth, or digital bandwidth
- 29Wi-fiA facility allowing computers, smartphones, or other devices to connect to the Internet or communicate with one another wirelessly within a particular area.
- 30RouterIn packet-switched networks such as the Internet, a router is a device or, in some cases, software in a computer, that determines the next network point to which a packet should be forwarded toward its destination.
- 31DoSAn interruption in an authorized user's access to a computer network, typically one caused with malicious intent.
- 32Data capture formthe action or process of gathering data, especially from an automatic device, control system, or sensor.

- 34Graphical user interfacegraphical user interface is a type of interface that allows users to interact with electronic devices through graphical icons and visual indicators such as secondary notation, as opposed to text-based interfaces, typed command.
