Flashcards
P2- Radiation
Cards in this deck (9)
- 1WHAT IS AN ANALOGUE SIGNAL?A signal is analogue format is likely to be in a wave form, varying frequency and amplitude. The signal can take any value and the signal resemble the original information. Also, the signal is modulated.
- 2WHAT IS A DIGITAL SIGNAL?This works as an 'on' and 'off' wave that works in 1s and 0s. The signal is encoded via a computer.
- 3WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF DIGITAL SIGNALS?Noise can be removed (no loss of quality). More information can be sent, and none is lost. Can be used to send signals to and from computers. The signal is either on of off. It can be easily stored.
- 4WHAT IS MODULATION?The process of adding a signal (eg music) to a carrier wave (radiowave) to make an amplitude modulation wave (AM) or a frequency modulated wave (FM).
- 5WHAT ARE PHOTONS?Little packets that deliver energy to an absorber by hitting it from the source.
- 6WHAT IS INTENSITY?Intensity= amount of energy arriving at a surface per second.
- 7WHAT FACTORS CAN INCREASE THE INTENSITY OF A BEAM OF RADIATION?1. The number of photons.
2. The energy of each photon. - 8LIST THE 7 TYPES OF RADIATION IN THE ELECTROMAGNETIC SPECTRUM (HIGHEST FREQUENCY FIRST)Gamma ray
