Question Answer
What is the relationship between the slope of an inclined plane and effort force? When the slope of an inclined plane is increased, the effort force is also increased.
How do pulleys help lift heavy loads? It can change the amount of effort force needed to lift a load.
What two factors determine how heavy a load a pulley can lift? The number of pulleys and strength of the supporting ropes in a pulley system determines how large a load the system can lift.
What is the relationship between effort distance and the number of pulleys in a pulley system? The effort force decreased when the number of pulleys in the pulley system increased.
What is another name for a pivot point on a lever? Another name for the pivot point is the fulcrum.
What is the general pattern that can be found in the data from a lever? When the number of washers in increased, the holes away from the fulcrum will have to decrease. Also, when you multiply the number of washers by the distance from the pivot/fulcrum on one side it equals when you multiply the number of washers by the distance from the pivot/fulcrum on the other side.
What happens to the effort force when using a simple machine? It will Increase
What happens to the effort distance when using a simple machine? It will Decrease
What happens to the work done when using a simple machine? It will stay the same
What is mechanical advantage? Mechanical advantage is how much the machine helps us when it is used.
