Question Answer
Name the 2 different types of valve in the heart SEMI LUNAR ATRIOVENTRICULAR
WHICH VENTRICLE IS THICKER ? LEFT , because this ventricle has to pump blood around the rest of the body whereas the other side only pumps blood to the lungs.
What are the 2 main arteries ? PULMONARY ARTERY AORTA
WHAT ARE THE 2 MAIN VEINS? PULMONARY VEIN VENA CAVA
WHAT CREATES THE 'LUB' SOUND IN A HEART BEAT? WHEN BLOOD IS FORCED AGAINST THE CLOSED ATRIOVENTRICULAR VALVES.
WHAT DOES THE SINO-ATRIAL NODE DO? This group of cells contract first setting the rhythm for all the other heart cells. it creates an electrical impulse and cause a wave of electrical activity, spreading across the atria causing them to contract simultaneously .
why does the electrical impulse in the heart not go straight down from the top of the heart to the bottom? If this happened the blood would go to the bottom of the ventricle instead of going up towards the arteries.
