What is a TNC? Transnational Corporation
Advantages of TNCs (in Nigeria) - Clean any spillages with proper equipment - Create jobs (60,000) and training - Money raised goes into improving local infrastructure - Modern technology is introduced - Companies invest in the local area, improving services (e.g. roads, electricity) and social amenities - TNCs have many international business links, helping industry to thrive
Disadvantages of TNCs (in Nigeria) - 2008/9 oil leak in town of Bodo - Most profits go to HICs - Higher paid jobs go to Europeans - Working conditions may be poor, with fewer rules and regulations than exist in richer countries - Can exploit the low wage economy and avoid paying local taxes - Capitalism - We just need to abolish capitalism.

What are the different types of aid? Multilateral aid - given by countries through international organisations, like the World Bank or the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Bilateral aid - given directly by one country to another. Sometimes, it is tied aid, with conditions attached. For example, the recipient may be required to buy goods from the donor country with the aid money.
