Flashcards
Unit 3- Computational Thinking Revision Resource

Cards in this deck (10)
- 1What is Decomposition?Decomposition is the act of taking a larger problem and breaking it down into smaller more manageable pieces.
- 2What could be an example of Decomposition?Where we ask what form group is tallest. We would then break this down into smaller parts to make solving the initial problem easier.
- 3What is abstraction?Abstraction is where you filter through information to find what is essential and what is not.
- 4What is an example of abstraction? And why?The London Underground. We don't need to know the precise geographical locations of each station we just need to know which is linked to which.
- 5What is Pattern Recognition? It is identifying repeated elements to avoid solving the same problem more than once.
- 6What are Algorithms? An algorithm is a set of step by step instructions that solve a problem.
- 7What is a Structured English Algorithm?A structured English algorithm uses short, structured sentences to express instructions.
- 8What does this symbol represent? This is the Terminator symbol used at the start and end of a Flowchart.

- 9What does this symbol represent? This symbol represents when something happens in a flowchart

- 10What does this symbol represent? This represents when a decision is contemplated. This is used in a flowchart when a question has an answer that means yes or no.
