Alegebraic Fractions
Cards in this deck (3)
- 1Algebraic fractions can be simplified by cancelling down Numerators + denominators must be full factorised firstIf Numerator + denominator contain fractions you can multiply both by same number (LCM) to create equivalent fraction
- 2To multiply fractions, multiply denominators If possible cancel down firstTo divide two fractions, multiply first by reciprocal of the second
- 3To add/subtract fractions each must have same denominator Done by finding LCM of denominatorsWhen numerator has same/higher degree than denominator, can divide terms to produce 'mixed' number fraction.
Can be done either using long division or remainder theorem:
F(x) = Q(x) X divisor + remainder
where Q(x) is quotient + is how many times divisor divides into function
