- Use a comma to separate a quotation from the rest of a sentence

-For dinner I had soup, fish, chicken, dessert, and coffee.
-I met Harry, we went for a swim together, and afterwards Harry went home.
5PERIODS-To show that sentence has ended
- To show that an abbreviation has ended
-As a decimal point
6PERIODSEXAMPLES
-I was born in Paris and now live in Mexico.
-I will arrive between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.
7SEMICOLONSAre used for:
-Combine two closely related complete sentences
-To separate complete sentences
-To separate items in a list when commas alone would be confusing
8SEMICOLONSEXAMPLES:
-When I finish here, and I will soon, I'll be glad to help you; and that is a promise I will keep.
-I like your brother; he's a good friend.
