- 2PFF Autopilot System self Test. When initially powered with no modes selected why is the trim light lit?As a reminder of the need to perform a self test. The test must be performed before the autopilot portion of the system can be used but need not be performed before using the flight director portion.
- 3PFF Autopilot -how do you perform the test? You shortly push the test button and expect the following1. All annunciator lights, the trim light and autopilot lights illuminate.
2. The trim light will flash 4 times.
3. The annunciator legends will go blank, an aural tone will beep approximately six times & the autopilot light will glash 12-13 times & go off. - 4How do you activate the flight director?The A/P FD button or the CWS (Control Wheel Steering) control wheel toggle.
- 5APR Mode flowTune, course pointer to FAC (ILS front course even if flying BC), heading bug to desired intercept angle & activate HDG mode, depress APR button (arms auto capture & APR will flash), V Bar commands bank for turn, HDG mode automatically cancels as APR engages, once localizer captured GS automatically arms (GS illuminated)
- 6Biggest reason you cannot get autopilot to engage?FD must be engaged first or it won’t work.
- 7Prior to autopilot engagementVerify you see V-BAR & that all V-bar commands are satisfied
- 8What does CWS enable you to do with the autopilot engaged?Allows you to maneuver in pitch and roll without disengaging autopilot. You depress CWS maneuver and when ready to resume you simply release the button.
