n5 physics gas laws

Max McDonald English 14 cards

Cards in this deck (14)

  1. 1What is the formula used to calculate pressure.Pressure = Force/Area
  2. 2What is volume of a gas?the space which the gas occupies.
  3. 3What is the temperature of a gas.A measure of the kinetic energy of the particles of the gas. The greater the temperature, the greater the kinetic energy.
  4. 4What is the pressure of a gas?Caused by the particles of the gas colliding with the walls of the container. The more frequent the collisions, the more force is exerted on the walls of the container and so greater pressure.
  5. 5What is the temperature known as absolute zero?-273°C or 0 K (kelvin)
  6. 6What do we mean by absolute zero? When a gas' particles have no kinetic energy they must have no temperature.
  7. 7What unit do we use for temperature when solving any problems in terms of Gas Laws?Kelvin (K)
  8. 8In summary, what is the relationship between Pressure & Volume (Gas Laws)? The Pressure of Gas is "inversely proportional" to its' volume. As the volume decrease the pressure will increase. (smaller volume means that particles will collide with the walls of the container more, so the average force per second will also increase.
  9. 9What formula do we get out of the relationship of Pressure and Volume?P1V1 = P2V2
  10. 10Describe, in summary, the relationship between Pressure & Temperature (Gas Laws). The pressure of a gas increase as the temperature increases. (at high temp gas particles have a lot of kinetic energy and move quickly, so particles hit the wall more regularly. If force increases pressure increases.)
  11. 11Describe, in summary, the relationship between Temperature & Volume (Gas Laws).Volume is directly proportional to the temperature. (because the particles will collide faster and more often so force increases so will the pressure)
  12. 12What is the General Gas EquationP1V1/T1 = P2V2/T2
  13. 13What is the equation we can find from what we know about the relationship between Volume and Temperature?V1/T1 = V2/T2
  14. 14What is the equation we can find from what we know about the relationship between Pressure and Temperature?P1/T1 = P2/T2
