Cards in this deck (17)

  1. 1RTPReliable Transport Protocol
A network layer independent routing protocol that is used for the delivery and reception of EIGRP packets.
    It's both unreliable and reliable.
  2. 2OSPF Internal RouterA router that has all interfaces inside of one area.
  3. 3OSPF Backbone RouterA router that is in the backbone area. Typically 0
  4. 4OSPF ABRArea Border Router
    Has interfaces in multiple areas.
  5. 5OSPF ASBRAutonomous System Border Router
A router that has an interface to an external non OSPF network.
  6. 6EIGRP Hello PacketsUsed to discover neighbors and form adjacencies.
    Default is 5 seconds
    60 seconds (slow links)
Hold time is 3x Hello Interval
    Multicast unreliable packets
  7. 7EIGRP Udate PacketsSent only when necessary, contain only the routing info needed, and are sent only to those routers that require it.
    Use reliable delivery.
  8. 8EIGRP Query PacketsUsed by DUAL when searching for networks.
    Multicast/Unicast reliable packets
  9. 9EIGRP Acknowledgement PacketsSent by EIGRP when reliable packets are used.
    Update, Query, and Reply packets
    unreliable unicast.
  10. 10EIGRP Reply PacketSent in response to a query packet regardless of whether the replying router has info about the queried route.
    Unicast reliable
  11. 11EIGRP OpcodeSpecifies the EIGRP packet type
  12. 12DUALDiffusing Update Algorithm
primary way that EIGRP prevents loops.
Maintains a list of backup routes that have been determined loop free.
    Allows EIGRP to converge quickly.
  13. 13SuccessorThis is the primary route that EIGRP DUAL has chosen.
  14. 14Feasible SuccesorThis is a backup route that EIGRP has chosen that has passed the Feasibility Condition.
  15. 15Feasibility DistanceThis is the metric from my local router interface to the subnet.
  16. 16Reported DistanceThis is the metric from my neighbor to the subnet.
  17. 17Feasibility ConditionIf a neighbors Reported Distance is less than the local router's Feasible Distance, it can be a feasible successor.
