Gene A length of DNA that is he unit of heredity & codes for a specific protein
Allele Two or more alternatve forms of a gene
Homozygous allele When the alleles in a matching pair are the same
Heterozygous alleles When the alleles in a matching pair are different
A dominant allele is always written as ...... A capital letter
A recessive allele is always written as............... The corresponding small letter (i.e. dominant = R so recessive = r)
Codominant alleles A pair of alleles that both show the Phenotype ( e.g Blood groups)
Genotype The alleles possessed by an organism
Phenotype The characteristics of the organism
