Question Answer
What is the unit of force? Newtons, N
What are action and reaction forces? When two objects exert equal and opposite forces on one another
What happens when the resultant force on an object is 0? It will continue to move at the same speed and in the same direction
What happens when the resultant force on an object is not 0? There will be an acceleration or a deceleration
What is the thinking distance? The distance a vehicle travels during the driver's reaction time
What is the braking distance? The distance a car travels under braking force
What is the stopping distance? Thinking distance + braking distance
What is an elastic object? One that regains its original shape once the forces acting on it are removed
What does Hooke's Law state? Extension is directly proportional to force applied, providing the limit of proportionality is not exceeded.
