Computing science exam style question full mark answers

Alex Haynes English 8 cards

Cards in this deck (8)

  1. 1What is meant by a 2GHz CPU?2GHz represents the clock speed of the CPU. This means that the CPU can preform 2 billion cycles per second.
  2. 2What is meant by a dual core processor?A dual core processor means that the processor has two processors inside of it. This allows it to preform tasks simultaneously.
  3. 3Describe the purpose of the RAM in the computer? The RAM of a computer store the programs that the person is currently using.
  4. 4Describe the purpose of the hard drive in the computer? The purpose of the hard drive is to save data. This data can then be accessed over and over again.
  5. 5Using examples, describe the difference between volatile and non-volatile memory? The RAM has volatile memory. This means that when the computer system is turned off, the memory will be deleted. Hard drives, on the other hand, have non-volatile memory. This means that the data is not deleted when the system is turned off.
  6. 6Explain two ways in which a computer can be upgraded to improve its performance?First of all, there would need to be more RAM in the system. This is because the more RAM in a computer system, the more programs it will be able to keep open. Another thing would be to get a CPU with a higher clock speed. This is because the higher the clock speed a CPU has, the greater the number of tasks that it can perform in a set amount of time.
  7. 7What is meant by a syntax error?A syntax error is when you don't follow the rules of the programming language.
print("hello world) This line of code has a missing speech mark.
  8. 8Describe what is meant by a logic error?A logic error is when the code works but not as the user intends. This could be because the operators (AND, OR, NOT) or inequalities (<, >, <=, >=) are mixed up.
