What was the formal name of the Suffragists? NUWSS The National Women's Suffrage Society
Who led the Suffragists? Millicent Fawcett (Married to Henry Fawcett, a Liberal MP)
Date the Suffragists were formed? 1897
What was the class of the Suffragists? They were usually middle or upper class (They had the education and time to organise political campaigns)
What were the Suffragists aims? To win votes for women using non-violence (legally)
How did the Suffragists try to win womens' suffrage? -Encouraging males to join the campaign and thus win MP's votes -Public speaking, pamphlets and newspapers -Supporting MPs who were in favour of them

Who led the Suffragettes? Emmeline Pankhurst (A leading member of the Manchester NUWSS branch)

Why did the Suffragists (NUWSS) stop supporting the Suffragettes (WSPU)? The Suffragists believed that the Suffragettes militancy contradicted their 'sensible' image and therefore put men off from supporting women's suffrage
What organisations were against women's suffrage? -The Men's League for Opposing Women's Suffrage -The National League for Opposing Women's Suffrage -Women's National Anti-Suffrage League
Why did the suffragettes call off their campaign? WWI broke out and they put their efforts into serving their country
