Question Answer
here we go , give one advantage and disadvantage of using photocells to generate electricity .IT DOES NOT WORK WITHOUT SUNLIGHT IT DOES NOT HARM THE ENVIROMENT BY POLLUITION-RENEWABLE-STEARDY-LOW MATINENCE
explain how wind turbines convert energy from the sun into electricity THE SUNS ENERGY IS THE WIND AND IT CONVERTS KINETIC ENGERY OF MOVING AIR (CONVECTION CURRENTS) INTO ELECTRICITY.CONVECTION CURRENTS
briefly describe how a power station works IT HAS FOSSIL FUELS OR NUCLEAR FUELS WHICH ARE HEATED IN THE BOILER, THE STEAM MOVES THE TURBINE, THE TURBINE SPINNS WHICH CREATES POWER WHICH IS TURNED INTO ELECTRICITY IN THE GENERATOR WHICH IS ELECTROMAGNETIC .
a kind map i think of different power sources and their advantages and disadvantages .make it pretty .DONE
define electromagnetic induction and what factors affect the size of the induced voltage and current CREATION OF A VOLTAGE AND MAYBE CURRENT IN A WIRE WHICH IS EXPERIENCING A CHANGE IN A MAGNETIC FIELD.
Describe how a generator works ROTATE A COIL IN A MAGNETIC FIELD.
explain why a very high electrical voltage is used to tansmit electricity in the national grid it is cheaper than a high current less dangerous as high current would be hold and is more efficient
write down the formula for calculating the efficiency of power stations TOTAL ENERGY INPUT=USEFUL ENERGY OUTPUT+NOT USEFUL OUTPUT. EFFIENCY=USEFUL ENERGY OUTPUT % TOTAL ENERGY INPUT X 100
how many units o f electrictyin KWH would a kettle of power 2500 w use in 3 minutes ......god that sounds really heard energy=power x time=2.5kw x 0.05 h = 0.125 kwh.
now how much would boiling the kettle use. if one unit of electricity costs 12p cost = cost per unit x number of units = 12 x 0.125 = 1.5p.
briefly descibe how the greenhouse effect keeps the earth warm the energy of the sun is absorbed by the earth and is kept in the atmosphere.
how has human activity affected weather patterns humans use much more co2 from burning fossil fuels. chopping down trees means more co2-methane is increasing due to cattle
name 3 types of radiation and describe their ionising powers alpha are big and heavy-beta are electrons- gamma waves are electromagnetic waves.
why are these radiations used-medical tracers they are used to show where the strongest reading are coming
treating cancer gamma rays are will kill all living cells. so they can be used to treat cancers but the have to be carefully direct so won't ham good cells
smoke detectors ?
ok give me a little mind map of advantages and disadvantages of nuclear power a,it can make lots of energy without releasing CO2.b)it releases alot more energy than chemical reactions. disadvatage. a) expensive to bulid and maintainb) it takes longer to start up and processes uranian which causes pollution
describe the precautions you should use when handling radioactive sources in the lab ( think spiderman) a) wear protective clothing to protect your skin . b)to keep arms length so can't breath in c) keep exposure time short
briefly explain why it is difficult to dispose of radio active wastes safely its high level waste (dangerous)and also needs to be geographically stable as with corrode inefficient materials
what shapes are the orbits of the planets in the solar system the shapes are ..not stated but look circles
what force keeps planets and satellites in their orbits gravity keeps them in orbit.
tell me what the difference is between asteroids and comets asterolids are peices of rock that float in the suns orb. a comit is a ball of rock dust and ice which orbit the sun in elongated elipse and come from other planets
oh my god ..i know this one ..what is a light year a light year is how scientists measure distance in space=the distance that light travels through vacum in 1 year
what would be the problem in sending a group of astronauts to neptune neptune is a planet very far awayand the ship would have to be full of fuel whih would men heavy and expensive and also due o to the distance astronauts would have muscle wastage and get very old
gve 2 advantages and 2 disadvantageous of manned space tarvel see above.
what type of radiation is found everywhere in the universe microwave radiation
in know this one to....describe the big bang theory a)universe was a very small space(smaller than a pin head).b)then it exploded and started to expand c)it is 14 billion years old
list the steps that lead to the formation of a main sequence star(like our sun) the star forms from cloulds of dust and gas> the force of gravity brings them together forming a protostar>when temp gets high enough it pulls everything (thermal nucula fusion)inwards and pressure pulls it together making a main sequance star.
describe Copernicians model of the universe he was an ancient greek and thought that earth and all the planets were in a stright line and all perfect circles and the sun was the centre of the universe.
explain the evidence that Galileo produced that supported Copernicus theory .....( that sounds boring) he noiced that venus had different light phases like ours meaning that the planet was lite by a sun similar to earth
