What is data?	Data is meaningless, or unprocessed, it doesn't mean anything . Consists of raw facts and figures, they have no use before they are processed.

What is information?	Information id data that has been processed, or given meaning.
Processed can mean...	Having calculations performed on it or dates added to it.
What is knowledge?	knowledge: has a rule, obtained from information by applying rules to it. (applying conmen sense).
An example	06102000: data 06/10/2000: information 06/10/2000, is my sisters birthday: knowledge
GIGO (Garbage in garbage out)	put incorrect data into a computer you'll get incorrect data form the computer
ways data can arise	1) from the results of an experiment 2) From automatic measurements using sensors,(E.G: temperature) 3) From a transaction ( for example: buying a download 4) From a survey (e.g; finding the most popular)
Evaluating data	Data should be evaluated before use. evaluation checks the data: is it fit for purpose? is it accurate? it is not biased
