Question Answer
Types of Numbers types of numbers
INTERGERS whole numbers (both positive and negative, including zero
Prime numbers numbers above 1 which cannot be divided by anything 1,2,3,5...divide by 8
LCM Lowest common multiple- smallest number into which they evenly divide. e.g lcm(12,18)=36 18, (36), 54 12, 24, (36)
HCF highest common factor- highest number that can be divided into each of two or more numbers HCF(12,8)=4 12 :-1, 2, 3, (4), 6, 7 8 :-1, 2, (4), 8
B.E.D.M.A.S B-RACKETS E-XPONENTS D-IVISION M-ULTIPLY A-DD S-UBTRACT 3 + 4 × 5 - 4(3 + 2) 3 + 20 - 4 × 5 = 3 + 20 - 20 = 3
Indices e.g 6^2 = 6 x 6 = 36
Multiplication For numbers with the same base simply add the powers together. 2^2 x 2^3 = 2^(2 +3) = 25.
Dividing when dividing indices subtract the powers e.g 4^6 divided by 4^3 = 4^7 6-3=3
Raising? multiply powers e.g (4^2)^3=4^6 2x3=6
