Flashcards
[Final Study] CS344 W05 - W07
Cards in this deck (19)
- 1What are the four main phases of task centered design?- Identification
- User-centered requirements analysis
- Design scenarios
- Evaluate through Task-centered Walkthroughs - 2Explain IdentificationIdentify users, articulate tasks. Make sure it's realistic
- 3Explain User-centered requirements analysisGet 90% coverage of users. Decide which tasks/users to include/exclude
- 4Explain Design scenariosThink about interface design and integrate them with your descriptions to create usage scenarios
- 5Explain evaluation through task-centered walkthroughsRole play, evaluate believability in order to find problems, evaluate user’s expected knowledge
- 6List the five main criteria of a good task descriptions- Describes what user wants to do
- Very specific
- Complete job
- Describes the user (what they know)
- Identify broad coverage of users/task types - 7Explain the importance of getting requirements right and the risks of poorly defined requirements. It's expensive to get wrong. Especially when the end product is essentially useless given the task.
- 8List the different types of requirements and define themFunctional = What product should do
Data = Type, volatility, size/amount, persistence, accuracy, value of required data
Environmental = Circumstances where product will operate
User characteristics = Key attributes of intended user group - 9List data gathering techniques useful for generating requirements, and describe the strengths and weaknesses of the techniques for this purpose.Focus groups = Good for consensus view/conflict view.
Questionnaires = Getting initial responses for analysis
Direct observation = Good for natural settings
Indirect Observation = Good for iterative design
Similar product research = duh~ - 10Explain what a persona is, how it is used, and the elements that a good persona contains.Rich descriptions of typical users. Used to realistically flesh out requirements through a user focused approach. Personas include user skills, attitudes, tasks, environments.
- 11What is the problem statement? One line statement of supported activity, user, and level of support. EG Easy, 1 minute effort, zero-iteration scheduling of meetings by three or more participants
- 12Explain three steps for requirements generation- Identify human activity.
- Task, goals, conditions, current problems/strengths
- Identify all users and stakeholders
Set focus and levels of support - 13What are cognitive frameworks?- theoretical models that provide predictive and explanatory power for understanding user behavior
- based on theories of cognition - 14What are internal frameworks?about the mental process inside
users head (mental models) - 15What are external frameworks?account for interactions with
technologies, environment, context - 16What are the stages of Norman's seven-stage model?1. establish goals
2. form intention to act
3. decide on sequence of actions
4. execute the action sequence
5. perceive the state of the world
6. interpret perceived state
7. evaluate system wrt goals - 17What is the gulf of execution? The difference between intentions and allowable actions.
- 18What is the gulf of evaluation? The difference between actual system's state and user's understanding.
- 19What are elements of an interface design?Interface type
Relationships
Metaphors
Interaction types
