Chapter 10: Point Dose Calculations

Question	Answer
Monitor Units (MUs)	Machine output; it is calibrated to give 1 cGy/MU at a certain point (ex: dmax along CAX) under certain conditions (ex: 10x10 FS, 100 cm SSD or SAD).
Dose	Energy deposited per unit mass. A point quantity
MUs and Dose	Different points inside the tissue, along the CAX, receive different amounts of dose with the same Muscle delivered. The dose at a point along the CAX depends on: 1) distance from the source (ISL) 2) depth (attenuation, energy, absorber dependent) 3) scatter (energy and absorber dependent)
