Cards in this deck (11)
- 1Fetch execute cycle

- 2What is cache?Cache is a small amount of memory which is a part of the CPU. Its closer to the CPU than RAM. It is used to temporarily hold instructions and data that the CPU is likely to reuse.
- 3Why does cache size affect CPU performance? The more cache there is, the more data can be stored closer to the CPU, so travel time is reduced
- 4UnicodeUnicode uses between 8 and 32 bits per character. It can represent characters from languages from all around the world. As it is larger than ASCII, it might take up more storage space when saving documents.
- 5ASCIIThe ASCII character set is a 7-bit set of codes that allows 128 different characters. ASCII is only used for the English language As it only allows for a certain amount of characters.
- 6Sample rateThe sample rate is how many samples, or measurements, of the sound are taken each second. The more samples that are taken, the better the quality of the audio.
- 7Sample resolutionThe number of bits per sample
- 8Bit rateThe number of bits used per second of audio
- 9Why is binary used to represent data in computersVoltage in a computer can be either on or off (1 or 0)
- 10Units of data

- 11What is extended ASCII?Extended ASCII is an 8-bit character set that represents 256 different characters
