Flashcards
Frequency polygons and ratio

Cards in this deck (3)
- 1Frequency polygonsFrequency polygons are used to represent grouped data like:
They are always entered at the midpoints of the classes
- 2Ratio (part1)Whenever having to do a ratio you always have to put it in the same order as it is said. For instance if the question said
what is the ratio of boys to girls it would be 16:20 for instance. Also if the question asks you to you have to put the ratio in its simplest form. So for this question it would be 4:5 - 3Ratio (part2)If you are given a question where it asks you how much money Tom would have compared to Sam and they give you a ratio like 3:4 for instance and a total price of £49, and they gave you a full amount. First off you have to add the ratios together (4+3=7) then you have to divide the total amount of money by the ratio (49/7=7) you then know that 1 = 7 so you can do 4x7=28 and 3x7=21. So in the end you know that Tom would have £28 and Sam would have £21 (if you want to make sure that you are correct then just add up the two prices you should get the total amount of money that you started with!)
