Initial Assessment

Legally ELs have to be identified and then offered services if they qualify.

This is done through a variety of ways such as a home language survey and tests such as the WIDA Screener

Ongoing Assessment

ELs can continue to be assessed in a variety of ways:

Portfolios

Receptive Language Skills

Expressive Language Skills

High-Stakes Testing

AYP: Adequate Yearly Progress

Are students retaining knowledge throughout the year and improving upon their skills?

One of these tests to display the progress, especially with ELs is the ACCESS Test.

An important note about testing with ELs, they will qualify for accommodations. Their accommodations will be found in each student's I-ELP.
