Flowchart content

  1. Separating Zinc Chloride from Cyclohexane and Benzophenone

  2. Begin by weighing out the mixture, ideally, 9 grams should be enough.

  3. To weigh: Use a spatula and place solution in a ceramic dish

  4. Set a hot plate to 732*C under a fume hood and place the ceramic dish on top of it. Allow forty to fifty minutes for the solution to stop fuming.

  5. Once the solution stops fuming, it is ready to cool. Allow it time to cool, possibly another forty minutes, and add 50 ml of water. This is where you will mechanically filter out the Sodium Chloride from the Cyclohexane

  6. Repeat the step three to four times and place the beaker onto a hot plate. Place the ceramic dish into the freezer, and the filter paper onto a paper towel.

  7. After allowing the now seperated mixtures, take them all out in order to induce room temperature. The Sodium Chloride, Cyclohexane, and Benzophenone should be dissolved.
