  1. Sexual selection- Darwin came up with this theory. Any physical trait that enhances reproductive success.

  2. INTER- mate choice. the preference of one sex for members of the opposite sex who have certain qualities. the preference determines in what are they need to compete. e.gr colours of a peacocks tail.If have more attractive traits, there genes will passed on to there offspring.humans pre programmed to display traits the opposite sex may find attractive e.g economic recourses.

  3. ST mating preferences- males and females under different evolutionary pressures

  4. LT- Both sexes invest heavily in offspring

  5. INTRA- Mate competition. compete for other member of the opposite sex. e.g size of antlers will increase the likely hood of winning the fight and therefore the mate. in which can pass on there genes. The trait is also passed down.

  6. Acording to parent investment theory. Male- many sperm, can never be sure of paternity and little cost to reproduction. natural selection favours maximising mating opportunities.

Stratergies- multiple relationships, sexual encounters early on. short distance between each partner. more copies of his gene passed on compared to a male who has less relationships

  7. F- only produce one child in a year. pointless to have sex with many men.

  8. BUSS- men lower standard in for ST mating and show a decrease in attraction after

  9. Shows how men can maximise there mating opportunites and how they have an evolutionary tendency to do so.Thus supporting sexual selection theory.

  10. Recourses and time spent best spent on the most likely partner to produce healthy offspring.

  11. F- pregnant for a long period of time. Need to be picky.

    - invest recourses

    -physical protection

    - likeability of a good parent

    -compatable.

  12. Tips earned by lap dancers highest when they were most fertile. this shows that men are attracted to the women who will give them many and healthy offspring. As fertility is linked with more healthy and ^likleyhood of children

  13. Quality's important so offspring survive.

  14. Buss- sex differences.

-women- importance in recourses- provide for children- survive.

-men importance in physical attractive- Health

    - men-younger than them- fertility

    both- intelligent partners- good parents

  15. Links qualities to sexual selection as explains why traits are important to the opposite sex. If attracted to these trait. Recourses and time will go into producing offspring and passing on genes rather.
