1. Great Britain and USA wanted to trade with Japan 1837-1846

   • USA sent s "gun-boat diplomacy" Forcing Japan to have trade with them
     • Resistence groups were created

2. Treaty of Kanagawa between USA and Japan was signed in March 1854

   • Ending with the "Seclusion" policy which lates 200 years
     • Japan became an international power

3. Rebel groups wanted to continue seclusion and "repelling the barbarians"

4. Meiji Restoration 1868

   • Take advantage of tchnology
     • "Eastern morals and Western sience"
       • Nationalism feeling
     • Transrom Feudal system into industry
   • Figth between Groups Anti- Western Policy and modern groups
     • 1866- Emperor died and Meiji became emperor
       • Established an Imperial system
         • "Enrich the country, strengthen the military"
