1. CD

   • Compact disk are known as optical storage devices. Data is burned onto the surface of the disk using a laser beam in the CD drive
     • Cheap to manufacture, easily transported and cheap and popular devices
     • Low storage capacity, fragile and slow read-write speed

2. DVD

   • It is similar to a CD in that it is an optical device and that a laser is used to store data and read the data
     • Advantages
       • Higher storage than a CD, cheap to manufacture, universal format and can be dual layer
     • Disadvantages
       • Still fragile and lower storage than many other media.

3. Bluray

   • Is an optical storage device similar to CD and DVD technology. It also uses a laser to read and write to the disk, but instead of the red laser beam, as used in a CD and DVD it uses a blue-violet laser beam
     • Advantages
       • Cheap to manufacture, highest popular optical storage capacity, enough to store HD movies and can be dual layer
     • Disadvantages
       • Fragile and quickly overtaken by streaming media
