Types of computers

1. The desktop computer is a type of personal computer, designed and manufactured to be installed in a specific location, such as a desk or table.

   • Advantages of Desktop PC: Lots of memory space, easy to upgrade, fast processors, no battery.
   • Disadvantages of Desktop PC: large footprint, need keyboard, mouse and monitor, big and heavy.

2. A laptop is a computer device that can be moved or transported with relative ease.

   • Advantages of Laptop PC: easy to carry, small and light weight, powered by battery portable.
   • Disadvantages of Laptop PC: very expensive, less ergonomic than a desktop, easy to steal or loose.

3. A supercomputer is one with computing capabilities far superior to common and desktop computers and that are used for specific purposes

   • Advantages: • Solve bigger problems • Run more problems in shorter time
   • Disadvantages: • Can be expensive • Takes up a lot of space • May only be good for specific applications
