A logical metalanguage
Model
- We can define "model" as a formal structure representing linguistically relevant aspects of a situation.
Semantic analysis consists of three stages
- Firstly, a translation from a natural language like English into a logical language whose syntax and semantics are explicitly defined.
- Secondly, the establishment of a mathematical model of the situations that the language describes.
- Thirdly, a set of procedures for checking the mapping between the expressions in the logical language and the modelled situations.
Essentially these algorithms check whether these expressions are true or false of the modeled situations.
