Renewable and Non-renewable Resources

  1. Renewable Resources

    • Solar Energy
      • It comes from the sun and is a great resource that doesn't cause pollution and is easy to find. We can find this source all around the world. However, this resource is not the best because it only gives energy if the sun is shining and the weather is not cloudy. It is easy to take the solar energy with mirrors in solar power plants located in large areas
    • Hydroelectric energy
      • It is prodeuced by running water that are founded through a turbine thta generate electricty
    • Other renewable resources
      • Biomass energy, the Geothermal energy (energy take it for the earth inner cores), and nuclear power.
    • Wind Energy
      • Wind is produced when air pass from a place to anotherwhich can be used to turn turbines and that is why we used this type of energy toturn wind turbines and genrate electricity.
  2. Non-renewable Resources

    • Fossil Fuels
      • Fossil fuels are substances that provides energy formed by the remains which takes many time to create made by hyrdrocarbons. Because the fossil fuels take hundred of millions of years to form so they can easily run out, they consider fossil fuels
        • Coal
          • Coal has been used by people for heat around more than thousand of years. Coal is found in the ground were miners need to take it with machines and chop it into chunks to lift it to the surface. Coal provides a lot of energy however it can be dangerous to the environment because it can cause water and air pollution more than most of the fossil fuels
        • Oil
          • Oil also called petroleum is formed by small animals and other organisms that live in the oceans a over millions of years ago. Oil is very difficult to find someitmes scientist need to tried slound wavesbelow the surfae
        • Natural Gas
          • Natural gas is formed o the same as the oil. Pipelines transport NAtural gas for the place we used it. This fossil fuels can also be found converted into liquids and stored into tanks.
    • Other Non-renewable Resources
      • Other resources that can easily run out and are consider Non-renewable Resources are fresh water and minerals.
