TYPES AND COMPONENTS OF A COMPUTER SYSTEM

1. SOFTWARE The programs that control the computer system. There are two types of Software: aplication and system.

   • APLICATION: Program that allows the user to do specific tasks: Word processor, spreadsheat, database, contol and measuring software, apps, photo editting software, video editting software, graphic manipulation software.
   • SYSTEM: Programs that allow the hardware to run properly and allow the user to comunicate with the computer.

2. HARDWARE: The physical components that make up a computer system: They keyboard, mouse, monitor, printer and so on. Hrdware can be either external or internal.

   • INTERNAL HARDWARE DEVICES: The mother board, random access memory(RAM), read only memory(ROM), video cards, sound cards, internal storage devices: hard disk drive(HDD) and solid state drive(SSD) and the central procesing unit(CPU)
   • EXTERNAL OUTPUT / INPUT DEVICES: Output is any peripherical that receives the data from a computer, usually for display, projection, or physiacl reproduction. Input is the keyboard and the mouse.

3. USER INTERFACES: Command line interface(CLI) requieres a user to type in instructions to choose options from menu, open softwareand so on. There are often a number of commands evry thst need to be typed on. Graphical user interface(GUI) allows the user to interact with a computer, using pictures or icons

4. OPERATING SYSTEM: To enable a computer system to function and to allow users to comunicate with computer systems, special software known OS has been developed. The general tasks for a typical operating system include: control of the operationof the imput, output and baking storage devices, supervisind the loading running and storage of applications programs, dealing with errors that occur in application progams, maintaining security of the wole computer system, maintaining a computer log, allowing communication between the user and the computer sysytem.
