Structure of the atom

1. Electron: subatomic particle with a charge of negative electricity, found in all atoms and acting as the primary carrier of electricity in solids.

2. Proton: subatomic particle occurring in all atomic nucleus, with a positive electric charge

3. Neutron: subatomic particle of about the same mass as a proton but without an electric charge

4. Electron cloud: A group of electrons circulating around a nucleus or a molecule.

6. Octet rule: Atoms will lose, gain or share electrons to achieve the electron configuration of the nearest noble gas

7. Lewis Dot Diagram: A way of representing atoms or molecules by showing electrons as dots surrounding the element symbol.
