Natural Resources

  1. What is a natural resource?

    • They are elements of nature that help or take advantage of the well-being and development of living beings in different things,
    • Some natural resources are seas, land, soils, rocks, forests, animals, fossil fuels, and minerals.
  2. Types of natural resources

    • Renewable resources
      • They are those that are regularly available or that can be reasonably replaced or recovered
      • Renewable resources that come from living things like trees and animals can be called organic renewable resources.
      • Renewable resources that come from non-living things like water, sun and wind can be called inorganic renewable resources.
    • Nonrenewable resources
      • they are those that cannot be replaced once they are destroyed.
      • these resources are found in minerals and fossils
        • minerals can be metallic resources (shiny and melt) and non_metallic resources ( do not contain metal)
      • endangered animals are considered non-renewable resources due to overhunting
  3. Role of the natural resources

    • Why are natural resources so important?
      • Human beings benefit from the daily consumption of natural resources; where consumption is higher in developed countriens
      • The 3 ways people consume resources are food and drink, housing and infrastructure, and mobility. These represent more than 60% of the resources
    • Mobility:
      • All types of transport we use and what helps to move or propel that mediums cars, trains, airplanes, ships
    • Housing and infrastructure
      • Housing and infrastructure: the objects that towns or cities are built ere obtained from natural resources as well as all the energy we consume at home and those utensils such as paper
    • Food and drink
      • Agricultural products ( seeds nuts, grass, medicine, and plants) as well as natural foods such as fish, seawater, and freshwater that can be drinkable to consume or for domestic use
      • the materials that we use for their packaging or those materials that we use to consume the drink and food (spoons, forks, knives, plates)
  4. Distribution of Natural Resources

    • Distribution: natural resources are not distributed evenly, because there are countries that are more endowed; since they have easy access seas to oceans, forests, minerals, wildlife, fuel, etc. What allows these countries to use them for the development of their economy.
    • fishing
      • the fishing companies in the maison mar for cephiro fishes and pncmayer contity.
    • threats to resources
      • super population: the world population is increasing rapidly this increase means that there will be pressure on most res
    • forests
      • the demand for wood and the production of forest products will be higher
    • need for more
      • for a comfortable life will need to produce more items which means more industrial processes and more needs for raw materials and natural resources
    • land use
      • land use with more mouths to feed and people to provide homes will require more housing and more food production
    • Climate Change
      • The alteration of climate patterns is damaging biodiversity and abiotic natural resources
    • Environmental Pollution
      • water, land and air pollution affect health and have catastrophic consequences
