ADIPOSE TISSUE

1. ¿What is?

   • It is a tissue formed by adipocytes (cells that store fat in a vacuole), of mesenchymal origin

2. Classification

   • White adipose tissue
     • White adipose tissue stores energy reserves in the form of lipids.
     • Endocrine organ that secretes numerous factors with autocrine, paracrine, and endocrine functions.
   • Brown adipose tissue
     • The metabolic function of brown adipose tissue is the oxidation of lipids to produce heat.

3. Functions

   • In addition to serving as an energy store, it also serves to insulate the body and protect organs, as well as to produce hormones important in appetite regulation.
