HISTOPLAMOSIS

1. PATHOGENIC AGENT

   • Histoplasma capsulatums

2. RESERVOIR

   • The reservoir is the soil where the manure of bats, birds and birds is deposited, and the infection is contracted through the respiratory tract.
   • The main source of infection is usually mines, caverns, tunnels and cellars infested by bats where their droppings have accumulated.

3. RISK FACTORS FOR INFECTION

   • is a fungal infection with a wide geographical distribution, affecting more than 60 countries; however, its incidence is higher in America. The endemic areas are the temperate, subtropical or humid tropical climate zones, close to freshwater courses.

4. MAIN SYMTOMS

   • fever, tiredness, weight loss, weakness, malaise

5. CHEST IMAGING FINDING

   • Histology and cultures Antigen research
     • Using the histoplasma antigen detection enzyme inmunoassay in the urine, blood
   • chest x-rays
     • Are normal in most patients a solitary pulmonary nodule isa frequent finding on chest radiographs of the patient with asymtomatic primary infection
   • Histopathology and cytology
     • Biopsy findings include granulomas, lymphohistiocytic aggregates and diffuse mononuclear cell infiltrates.
