1. Capoeira is a dance mixed with a fighing techinique, created by the African slaves to maintain contact with their roots and fight against slavery in the Brazilian colonization times.

   • In 1500 Brazil was oficially found by Portugal.
     • This art was a way of maintaining contact with their roots
     • In the XVII century the first people were taken to Brazil from Africa to become slaves .
       • In 1624 after an invasion on the brazilian Northeast, some slaves scaped and used a specific way to run in the woods. That was the first time people heard about Capoeira.
         • Between 1630 and 1694 the Quilombos were created. In this places Capoeira became each day more stronger.
           • Quilombos were places were slaves that scaped went to, to be protected with other slaves that also had ran away.
           • In 1712 the term "Capoeira" was registered in the portuguese language.
             • In 1835, people that pacticed Capoeira, named "Capoeristas" participated in the Revolt of Malês.
               • It was a very big fight that happened in the city of Salvador
               • In 1850 the group Malta of Capoeira practitioners was created in Rio de Janeiro.
                 • In 1889 Teacher Pastinha was Born.

                   • In 1890 the practice of Capoeira was forbidden by law.
                     • In 1899 Teacher Bimba was born.
                       • Another very big reference
                       • In 1932 Teacher Bimba founds the first Academy of Capoeira in an enclosed space.
                         • In 1937 in revoked the law that forbade Capoeira.
                           • In this year it started to be considered as a symbol of brazilian identity
                           • In 1941 Teacher Pastinha founded the Angola Capoeira Sport Centre.
                             • In 1971 the National Sports Council recognizes Capoeira as a sport.
                               • In 1980 Capoeira is widespread into the hole country of Brazil and the world.
                                 • In 2014 it was named as Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO
                                   • In the present, Capoeira has 2 main segments: Teacher Bimba's technique and Teacher Pastinha's technique.
