Electrical Variables
Voltage
- The voltage is defined as the magnitude in charge of establishing the differentiation of electrical potential that exists between two points. This is why it is also known as electrical voltage, or electrical potential difference.
Current
- Electric current is a physical phenomenon caused by the displacement of a charge (ion or electron). In the case of a metallic conductor, it is mainly the electrons that take part in the current. The intensity of the current is the amount of charge that passes through a conductor per unit of time.
Power
- Electrical power is a parameter that indicates the amount of electrical energy transferred from a generating source to a consuming element per unit of time.
Power factor
- The power factor (PF) is considered as an indicator of the correct use of energy. The power factor can take values between 0 and 1, where 1 is the ideal value and indicates that all the energy consumed by the devices has been transformed into work.
Energy consumption
- Energy consumption is the total amount of energy needed for a given process and is measured in kilowatt hours (kWh). This includes the cost of electricity, gas, diesel and biomass.
