  1. Use of Propaganda
    1. Josef Goebbels produced posters, cartoons, newspapers that all promoted the Nazi's messages. Also, made brilliant use of new innovations like radio to publicise Hitler's speeches and ideas. Coordinated large public events and parades to impress people & show strengths
    2. Intimidation
      1. SA/Brownshirts, led by Ernst Rohm by 1930 numbered 400,000. They offered order in some peoples minds and disrupted political opponents - damaging their appeal
      2. Wall Street Crash (1929) and the Great Depression
        1. unemployment, poverty, desperation: people thus more willing to listen to extreme ideas
          1. Also, caused loss of faith in Weimar and democracy (people remembered hyperinflation)
          2. Hitler's personal appeal
            1. fiery speaker
              1. ideas about Versailles welcomed
                1. offered a 'strong man' figure
                  1. Unite Germany and make her strong again
                  2. Some big business men and industialists supported Adolf Hitler because they shared his hatred and fear of communism. eg. Benz and Krupps. In turn they fund newspapers, campaigns etc.
