GENE 123 Q

  1. DC Questions

    • Thev and Norton
      • 1. Are there dependent sources?
        • Yes? Then Solve for I short curcit by attaching a wire to the two terminals
          • Now solve for V open curcit by finding the voltage between the two terminals with no wire.
            • Now find R Thevian using: Voc = Isc*Rt
              • Now draw the required Thevian or Norton Curicits.
        • No? zero sources by making V sources wires and I sources open curcits
          • Reduce the curcit to find Rt.
            • Now find Isc by putting a wire between the terminals, keep all the sources
              • Use Voc=Isc*Rt to find Voc.
                • Draw required curcit.
        • After drawing curcits if power is required use P = Voc^2/4Rt or Isc^2Rt/4
      • Thevian curcit is a voltage source in series with a resistor.
      • Norton curcit is a current source in parellel with a resistor.
    • OP Amps
      • Can only use nodal, KCL and KVL to solve.
  2. Basic Tools

    • Nodal Analysis
      • DC use: V=IR
    • Mesh Analysis
      • For DC: use V=IR
    • KCL/KVL
      • KCL: Sum of all currents in a loop = 0.
        • For DC use: V=IR
        • For AC use:
      • KVL: Sum of all voltages in a loop = 0.
        • For DC use: V=IR
        • For AC use:
