1. Genetic influences

   • Twin studies
     • monozygotic share all their genes while dizygotic only share 50%
     • if MZ twin are more alike in terms of aggressive behaviour this may be due to genes then environment because they share the same environment
   • Adoption studies
     • if a positive correlation is found between the adopted child/children and their biological parents, then it could be said that aggression is due to genetics
     • if a positive correlation is found between the adopted child's adopted parents then it could be said that aggression is due to environmental factors
   • research on genetic factors in aggression
     • Miles and Carey
       • Meta analysis of 24 twin and adoption studies
       • results suggested strong genetic influences
       • found that genetics and family environment was influencial in aggression in youths but at later ages it was more of the genetics than the environment.
