Summary of Training

  1. Internal and external users: induction training when a new employee joins an organisation , task based training to show how they carry out a specific task , skills based training where they use skills to complete a variety of tasks

  2. Training Methods: personal training where the user is trained by another person,

  3. External course away from the organisation: colleges and universities deliver courses that are externally verified and lead to a recognised qualification

  4. Cost benefits issues: the cost of the organisation should be seen as a investment, this will result into increased productivity and higher profits getting closer to rewards

  5. External trainer delivering course within the organisation which is bringing the trainer to the course to find out the needs

  6. other training methods include computer based training ,training manuals , one to one training and internal trainer

  7. factors to consider when choosing training are: how many users need training?, is expertise available on site?, are suitable facilities available on site?, are external courses available?, can existing staff be spared to train others?

    • How often will staff need to be trained?, are good quality user manuals or CBT schemes available?, users skill level and users own preferences
  8. Supporting users: software files which have software files to navigate the users, users guides and manuals , on site technician/help desk and existing user database

  9. Factors that might influence a choice of support methods: is there enough work to justify employing support staff?, how complex is the setup to be supported?, how much support is provided free with software?, how will a support contract cost?

    • What will it include?, how quickly will support be delivered?, are there security issues with using external contractors?
