1.2:Memory
RAM is a volatile which means it looses Data when it powers of (the computer)
- But the problem is that it is more expensive than other s but works fastser.
There are programs that are permanent in ROM such as firmware
BIOS:basic input/output system, contains programs that bring up the hardware.
Rom is a non volatile this means that doesn't loose data when turned off (the computer)
- This one is less expensive than ram but it is slower but in my opinion it is better
Virtual memory is similar to RAM and is placed on the hard drive.(when there is to much in the RAM)
- BUT it is only temporary
Flash Memory
- Hard Disk: Magnetic storage that holds files and programs
Storage:hard disk drive and solid state. solid state doesn't move and tends to be smaller whereas hard disk drive spins around
cache:is a reserved are a to speed up the
cache
- cant hold much
- stores frequently used data
- cache is a type of memory and it is a very fast one as well
- cant hold much
RAM
- Random Access Memory
- Volatile
- Volatile means that it does not keep all the data on it when the computer is switched off but it is faster non volatile means that it keeps its data when it it switched of but it is slower than the RAM
- Volatile
- This holds programs and data currently in use
- Random Access Memory
ROM
- Read Only Memory
- Non volatile
- Read Only Memory
POST
- check everything is ok and if any thing fails then it shows an error message
